Often when people read my CV, they go through it and don’t stop on my mountain skills. I know that I’m and engineer full of technical skills. But sometimes it’s worth looking at what are the soft skills I developed on the other hand by my outdoor activities.
The main skills are the ability to deal with constant risks. In the mountains you can not avoid the risk. You have to lower the risk to an acceptable level. It’s always a matter of trade-off. In the mountains you have also to differenciate feeling of risk with the actual real risk.
On the other hand, a good mountaineer is also someone with good analytical skills to define what you’ll need and prepare the logistics in function of the project and the forecast. Someone that will help you to get the best out of your project.
